Grade II Late C16 Listed Building, Cheshire

Mentioned in Pevsner’s guide and other publications this timber frame building close to Chester was heavily restored at the end of C19 probably by the renowned architect John Douglas, evidence of this can be seen in the timber frame wing in the left of the image.

Although not visible in the photograph, the roof geometry is quite complex and the roof coverings are a mixture of natural stone and slate, which means a very careful assessment is required to provide the client with a clear picture of the future maintenance requirements. The timber frame also required very close scrutiny and in this case, significant defects were discovered.
