Derbyshire has many important houses including this part fifteenth century manor house at Dethick. This spectacular property has a fascinating and well recorded history and was once home to Sir Anthony Babington who was executed in 1586 for plotting to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I. The most striking feature of the house is the kitchen that contains three enormous arched fireplaces and dates to around 1403. The grounds contain a former Ice house, once common in England but very few survive in houses of this size.
Listed Building Survey undertaken Spring 2021 for a private buyer.
