Grade II Listed Victorian Lodge, Wirral

Grade II Listed Victorian Lodge, Wirral

Built in 1856 as the Gate Keepers lodge house for Arrow Park on the Wirral, now a private residence.

Typical of many estate buildings the lodge is well constructed using good quality materials, the masonry is particularly attractive and the building has many unique elements including an arrow shaped window to the side of the fireplace. The interior is compact and fairly dark as a result of the multi faceted iron frame windows. The houses had gone through a period of dereliction and some inappropriate repairs were undertaken in the last quarter of the C20 but the building remains in fairly good condition.

Anyone considering buying such a building needs to be mindful that the they are generally difficult to enlarge without undermining the special qualities of the building and the interiors are very often small and dark.
